Employee benefits
Regular full-time employees working 40 hours per week are eligible for statutory and Self-Help sponsored benefits; including Medical, Dental, Life Insurance, 403 (B) Thrift Plan, etc.
Regular part-time employees working 20 hours or more per week are eligible for statutory and pro-rated Self-Help benefits.
Regular employees working less than 20 hours, and temporary, on-call or per diem employees are only eligible for statutory benefits.

- Fund Development Associate
- Manage agency donor database; coordinate agency publications; act as a primary liaison with media and external stakeholders.
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, humanities, communications, marketing, psychology, human resources or related field; must have valid CA driver license.
- Salary: $38,000 - $42,000 annually
- Adult day services
- Medical Social Worker
- Conduct intake and assessment of potential participants for the adult day services program; develop and implement care plans for individual participants; provide counseling and support to participants and caregivers through individual and group interventions.
- Minimum qualifications: Master's degree in Social Work; minimum one year of social work experience in community organization; experience in adult day service desirable; bilingual in English and Cantonese.
- Salary: $48,000 - $52,000 annually
- Employment Training and Economic Development
- Training Program Assistant/ Instructor (Regular, Part-time)
- Teach vocational ESL classes & other training classes assigned; monitor student’s progress; create & develop curriculums & education materials; assist manager in coordinating training class schedule, classroom assignment & instructor assignment.
- Minimum qualifications: AA degree & min. 2 yrs of teaching experience.
- Salary: $15 – $19/hr
- HomeCare and Hospice
- Billing and Office Coordinator
- Verifies Medicare eligibility of new referrals to Agency on a daily basis; transmits home care requests for anticipated payments and home care final claims electronically weekly; provides administrative support to HomeCare & Hospice.
- Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with one year of related work experience or AA degree with three years of related work experience may be substituted.
- Community Liaison
- The Community Liaison is responsible for representing Self-Help HomeCare & Hospice to physicians, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and other health providers and for establishing ties with the larger healthcare systems and the community. The Community Liaison maintains and develops referrals by conducting daily visits to hospitals and medical offices, as well as other outreach activities. The Community Liaison is also responsible for tracking patients who have been hospitalized and educating physicians and other health professionals on the services provided by HomeCare and Hospice.
- Minimum qualifications: BA degree in Health Administration, marketing, or related field. Two years of prior professional experience in health education, marketing, or related field. Bilingual in English & Chinese preferred.
- HomeCare and Hospice Supervisor
- Coordinate patient care services and supervise Hospice staff; implement clinical policies necessary to meet community standards of home health and/or hospice care.
- Minimum qualifications: Current California RN license; two years experience in primary care clinic or health facility; supervisory/administrative experience with demonstrated skills in effective communication; bilingual in Cantonese and English required.
- Intake Coordinator (Regular, Part-time)
- Part-time nurse needed to accept and assign referrals, coordinate staff schedules, and facilitate HomeCare and Hospice services.
- Minimum qualifications: Current California RN license; one year prior professional nursing experience; Bilingual Cantonese and English, Mandarin desirable; demonstrate business telephone skill and pleasant telephone manner; demonstrate critical thinking skills; knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet skills.
- Medical Social Worker (Regular, Full-time/Part-time/Per Diem)
- Full-time, part-time or per diem medical social workers to assess the needs of home care patients and provide medical social services in the home in order to meet the patient's and patient/family's social, emotional and economic needs.
- Minimum qualifications: Masters of social work degree; one year social work experience in a health care setting; bilingual in Cantonese and English.
- Physical Therapist (Regular, Full-time/Part-time/Per Diem)
- Full-time, part-time or per-diem physical therapists needed to provide professional physical therapy services to patients; instruct patients/families in a therapeutic regime to maximize the patient's function of body parts and muscles, and to maximize the patient's endurance; evaluate patient's functional level, muscle strength, and coordination using different functional and neurological tests.
- Minimum qualifications: Possess current license by the Physical Therapy Examining Committee of the Medical Board of California; bilingual in Cantonese and English preferred.
- Registered Nurse (Regular, Full-time/Part-time/Per Diem)
- Full-time, part-time or per-diem nurses needed to provide skilled nursing care to home health and/or Hospice patients. Provide skilled nursing assessment, planning and care in order to maximize the comfort and health of HomeCare patients or Hospice patients.
- Minimum qualifications: Current California RN license; one year prior professional nursing experience; bilingual Cantonese and English preferred.
- Nutrition and senior centers
- Nutritionist - San Francisco
- Responsible for the management and overall operation of nutrition services of the program. Work with caterers to develop and certify menus to meet guidelines and seniors’ needs. Provide in-service training to nutrition staff and food service volunteers.
- Minimum qualifications: B.A. degree with major in Nutrition. Registered dietitian preferred. Bilingual and bilateral in English/Chinese, familiar with Asian dietary culture, 2 yrs work experience in nutrition related field, preferably with elderly; conduct group presentation; computer skill including the use of Chinese software.
- Salary: $36,000 - $38,000 annually
- Program Manager - San Mateo
- Responsible for the overall program development, implementation, and administration of San Mateo County Nutrition & Senior Centers program.
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in sociology, social work or human services related field; or at least five years managerial work experience in human services field; must be bilingual in English and Chinese.
- Salary: $40,000 - $42,000 annually
- Residential care facility for elderly
- Home Health Aide - Santa Clara (Night & Weekend/On-call)
- Perform personal care and domestic housekeeping services; implement activities for residents.
- Minimum qualifications: Bilingual in English & Chinese; HHA Certificate highly preferred.
- Salary: $12-$14/hr; $10.50/hr
- Marketing Manager
- Develop strategy and create marketing/business plans for all residential care facilities; outreach for potential residents; participate in health fairs/outreach events; prepare and monitor annual marketing budget.
- Minimum qualifications: Bachelor degree in health care, business, or communications + marketing exp in social service/health care org; strong written and oral English and Chinese.
- Salary: $36,000 - $38,000 annually

- Care Manager- San Francisco
- Provide care management services to older adults and adults with disabilities; prepare bio-psychological assessments and care plans, arrange services to meet clients' needs; revise care plans and monitor the quality of services.
- Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, counseling or other related fields; experience with seniors; bilingual Cantonese/English required.
- Salary: $36,000 - $38,000 annually
- Case Manager - San Mateo
- Provide short-term care management services to older adults and adults with disabilities; conducts outreach to community-based organizations and other service providers, outreach to families and caregivers; attends and makes presentations at community meetings and other appropriate venues.
- Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in health, social work, counseling, psychology, gerontology, or other related fields. Case Management experience may be substituted for education; bilingual as per the needs of the service area.
- Salary: $34,000 - $35,000 annually
- Director
- Manage the Department’s programs: Social Work, Resource Centers, Housing Counseling, HICAP, Naturalization, and Elder Care at Home; develops operating policies, procedures & protocols for department programs.
- Minimum qualifications: Master’s degree in Social Work, Gerontology, Public Administration, Public Health or related field. Bilingual in English & Chinese preferred; Three years experience providing health, social and/or aging services in the community.
- Salary: $58,000 - $62,000 annually
- HICAP Outreach Coordinator/ Medicare Case Specialist - San Mateo
- Promotes greater awareness of Medicare benefits & HICAP services to Medicare beneficiaries; develops and implements outreach work plan.
- Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s degree or related work experience; bilingual in Spanish or Chinese preferred.
- Salary: $32,000 - $33,000 annually
- HICAP Program Assistant - San Mateo (Regular, Part-time)
- Provides support to the HICAP staff and other general office functions, such as data entry, financial record keeping, State required statistical verification, etc.
- Minimum Qualifications: Previous clerical experience; computer proficiency.
- Salary: $14 - $14.80/hr
